Ephesus and treatment in İzmir: how to plan both

Our clinic is not in Ephesus or Kuşadası — it is in Karşıyaka, İzmir, about 90 km from the Ephesus archaeological site, or roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by car depending on traffic.

Who this works for — and who it doesn’t

Ephesus and treatment fit into the same trip, but the order matters. After some treatments, a long, hot walk with very little shade should wait a few days or a few weeks.

On a cruise stop in Kuşadası

Ships usually stay in port for a few hours. That is not enough time to see Ephesus and travel 100 km to the clinic and back, and treatment is not planned under that kind of pressure. What you can do is an online pre-consultation with your photos and health information, and plan treatment for your next visit to Türkiye.

On the Aegean coast for a week or more

Setting aside one or more days for İzmir makes many treatments possible. Anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers and teeth whitening are usually done in a single visit; crowns and veneers can be spread over your holiday.

Coming to İzmir for treatment

If you hope to see Ephesus while you recover, the answer depends on the treatment — the table below and our guide Visiting Ephesus after treatment go into detail.

Living in Germany

German-language communication and follow-up coordination after treatment continue through our Leverkusen location.

Which treatments fit an Ephesus trip

The timings below are a general guide. Suitability, scope and length of stay are decided by a physician after an examination.

TreatmentTime in İzmirWhen to visit EphesusWhy
Anti-wrinkle injections, lip and jawline fillersOne visit; the procedure usually takes 20–60 minutesIn the days before, or 48 hours afterSauna, hammam and strenuous exercise are avoided for the first 24–48 hours; a long walk in summer heat belongs outside that window
Under-eye fillerOne visit; the result is reviewed at a check-up about two weeks laterBefore treatment, if photos matter to youBruising can last a few days; swelling under the eyes settles more slowly
Teeth whiteningUsually one sessionAny timeThe most common side effect is sensitivity lasting a few days
Zirconium crowns, veneers, smile designUsually 1–2 weeks, over several appointmentsOn the laboratory days between appointmentsThere are waiting days between impressions and the try-in; Ephesus fits naturally into them
Dental implantsTwo separate visits; healing into the bone usually takes 2–3 months in the lower jaw and 3–6 months in the upper jawAfter the first 24 hours of the first visitNo rinsing and no very hot food on the first day; nothing restricts walking
Hair transplant (FUE / DHI)Usually 3–4 daysIdeally before the procedureDirect sun is avoided for the first month, and Ephesus has very little shade. Whether to wear a hat is your physician’s call
RhinoplastyAbout one week, until the splint checkBefore surgerySwelling, sun and exertion in the first weeks; heavy exercise only after 4–6 weeks
Breast surgery, liposuction, gynaecomastiaAbout one weekBefore surgery; afterwards only with your surgeon’s approvalShort, frequent walks are encouraged, but Ephesus is a 2–4 hour walk on slopes and in the heat, and a compression garment is worn
Preventive health assessmentOne visit; lab results follow separatelyAny time—

Depending on the treatment, procedures take place at our clinic or at a licensed partner hospital.

Three sample plans

Ten days in Kuşadası, plus crowns

  • Day 1: Arrive in Kuşadası.
  • Day 2: Examination, X-rays and planning in İzmir.
  • Day 3: Tooth preparation and impressions; temporary crowns fitted.
  • Days 4–6: Laboratory stage. Ephesus, Şirince and the beach.
  • Day 7: Try-in in İzmir.
  • Days 8–9: Holiday.
  • Day 10: Final cementation and bite check, then home.

The number of appointments and the exact days are confirmed after the examination. If root canal treatment or gum contouring is needed, it takes longer.

Hair transplant in İzmir, plus Ephesus

  • Day 1: Arrive in İzmir. If the weather allows, see Ephesus that day or early the next morning.
  • Day 2: Hair transplant.
  • Days 3–4: First wash and check-up, then home.

If you would like to go to Ephesus after the procedure instead, ask your physician first about timing and how to protect the grafted area.

İzmir → Ephesus → Pamukkale

Ephesus and Pamukkale are about 200 km apart, around 2.5 hours by car. Our two Turkish locations sit at either end of the route: İzmir and Denizli. Which clinic treats you is decided by the treating physician, not by convenience. For the Pamukkale side, see Pamukkale health tourism.

Who will treat you

At our İzmir clinic, surgery is planned by Prof. Dr. Mübin Hoşnuter and dental treatment by Dt. Ayça Koku. Injectables and fillers are carried out by our clinic’s physicians. Whether a treatment suits you, its scope and its duration are decided by a physician after an examination, and you receive the plan in writing before anything is booked.

Our international patient team works in English, German and Turkish.

What to ask before you commit

Whichever clinic you choose, ask for written answers to these questions:

  • Who will carry out the treatment? What is their name and specialty?
  • Where will it take place — in a clinic or a hospital? Is the facility licensed?
  • How many appointments are needed, and how many days apart?
  • What does the quote include: tests, medication, check-ups, and accommodation or transfer if any?
  • Who do I contact if there is a problem after I get home?
  • Can you tell me in writing when I can visit Ephesus or swim in the sea?

If you live in Germany

A German-language pre-consultation is available at our Leverkusen location, and communication and follow-up coordination after treatment also continue through Leverkusen. What a complication after cosmetic surgery can cost in Germany, and the insurance recommended for it, is explained on the relevant treatment pages.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a clinic in Ephesus or Kuşadası?

No. Our nearest clinic is in Karşıyaka, İzmir — about 90 km from Ephesus and about 100 km from Kuşadası.

Can I have dental work or injections during a cruise stop?

Time in port is usually a few hours, which is not enough to travel to the clinic and back and plan treatment safely. You can have an online pre-consultation and plan treatment for your next visit.

Can I visit Ephesus after a hair transplant?

Direct sun is avoided for the first month, and Ephesus has very little shade. If you can, see Ephesus before the procedure. If you want to go afterwards, ask your physician about timing and how to protect the grafted area.

Can I visit Ephesus on the day I have fillers or injections?

Strenuous exercise, sauna and hammam are avoided for the first 24–48 hours. We recommend not planning a walk of several hours in summer heat during that window; your treating physician will give you the final advice.

Can I visit Ephesus while I’m having crowns or veneers made?

Yes — the laboratory days between impressions and the try-in are well suited to it. Avoid very hard and sticky food while you have temporary crowns.

How hot is Ephesus in summer, and does it matter after treatment?

In July and August the average daily high in the İzmir area is around 33–34 °C, and there is little shade at the site. In the first weeks after surgery or a hair transplant, long periods in direct sun and heat are not recommended. In summer the site has also opened on some evenings in recent years, which can be an option.

Can I combine Ephesus, Pamukkale and treatment in one trip?

Yes. Our İzmir and Denizli clinics sit at either end of the route. Your physician decides which clinic treats you; plan the journey after that decision.

Do you publish prices?

No. Because the treatment plan depends on an examination, costs are shared individually and in writing after we have reviewed your request.
